The purpose of this search tool is to assist you in locating information within this website. The search tool uses a "concept search" that is similar to natural language. This concept avoids many of the limitations found when using simple keyword searches. The search tool also takes into account the context in which a term(s) appear(s).This eliminates many of the false hits while also catching documents that may not contain the specific term, but does include the "concept".The following suggestions are given to help you maximize the results of your search.

You can refine your query with Boolean operators (i.e., AND; NOT; NEAR; BEFORE; AFTER; OR).

  • Use the keyword AND to find documents that contain multiple words.
    •  
  • Example: drilling AND fluids
    		•
       
  • This query would return documents that contain both the word "drilling" and the word "fluids".
    •  
  • Use the keyword NEAR instead of the keyword AND to find words close to each other. Both the keyword AND and the keyword
        NEAR look for words on the same page, but using the keyword NEAR will cause the results to be ranked in order of proximity
       (i.e., the closer together the words are, the higher the ranking of a result).

  • Example: drilling NEAR fluids
    		•
       
  • This query would return documents that contain the word "drilling" near the word "fluids". In this case the word "drilling" can be on either side of the word "fluids".

  • Use the keyword NOT to exclude a term(s) from your search.
    		•
     
  • Example: drilling NOT fluids
    		•
       
  • This query would return documents that contain the word "drilling" but not the word "fluids".
    •  
  • Use the keyword BEFORE to search for the occurrence of one term before another.
    •  
  • Example: drilling BEFORE fluids
    •    
  • This query would return those documents where the word "drilling" comes before the word "fluids".

  • Use the keyword AFTER to search for the occurrence of one term after another.
    •  
  • Example: drilling AFTER fluids
    •    
  • This query would return documents where the word "drilling" comes after the word "fluids".
    •  
  • The keyword OR is the default if no other operators are used. Use it to find instances of any or all words/phrases in your search.
    •  
  • Example: drilling OR fluids
    •    
  • This query would return documents containing either the word "drilling" or the word "fluids" or both.
